Course Description
This course is for sailors of all skill levels, and they will have plenty of fun and excitement with local Irish students attending the same course, while learning about , weather, ropework and more. The first week is all about sailing. Following are some of the topics that you would focus on..
- Boat handling and manoeuvring
- Ropework
- Weather
- Rigging
- Safety
What You’ll Learn?
- By the end of the week, students will be sailing on their own in light wind conditions without assistance from their instructor.
- Students will sail, learn and mingle with local Irish students attending the same course at Poolbeg Yacht Club.
- The course leads to a widely recognised certification issued by Irish Sailing – the Irish National Governing Body for sailing.
All our summer camps culminate with our Southern & Western Ireland programme* to combine the possibility of exploring the country, with activities catered to individual interests. The last 7 days are the perfect combination of travel, lessons, and sightseeing. The students will stay in Waterford, Cork, and Ennis/Limerick/Galway, visiting the most interesting places along the route and in each town, after having enjoyed their stay in Dublin.
THE PROGRAMME WHILE TRAVELLING*
SUNDAY |
Off we go! All aboard our bus in the morning, visiting Glendalough and arriving in Waterford in the evening. |
MONDAY |
Lesson in Waterford from 9.00 to 12.15. In the afternoon guided tour of the city and visit to the crystal factory. |
TUESDAY |
Morning lesson in Waterford from 9.00am to 12.15pm. After lunch the students will leave to visit the Rock of Cashel before arriving to Cork in the evening. |
WEDNESDAY |
A morning lesson in Cork from 9.15am to 12.15pm, followed by a guided tour in Cork city. |
THURSDAY |
Lesson in Cork from 9.00 to 12.15. After lunch, visit the Cliffs of Moher and transfer to Ennis/Galway or Limerick. |
FRIDAY |
Morning lesson in Ennis (or nearby) from 9.00am to 12.15pm, after lunch the students will visit the city of Galway. |
SATURDAY |
Departure for Connemara in the morning, visit to a sheep farm where they train sheepdogs, and the Connemara National Park. In the afternoon return to Dublin for the final evening. |
