Cancellation & Refund Policy
Travelling Languages — Think Ahead Ltd T/A Travelling Languages — Last updated: March 2026
This policy sets out the cancellation, refund, and amendment terms that apply to all programmes offered by Travelling Languages. All fees and course details are published on tl.ie. This policy is read alongside our Terms & Conditions.
1. Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of €200 is required at the time of booking to secure your place. This deposit is deducted from your total course fee and is non-refundable except in the case of visa refusal (see section 5) or where the School cancels the programme (see section 7).
2. Cancellation — Dublin General English Programmes
| Cancellation notice | Charge / refund |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days before start date | Deposit only (€200) retained — balance refunded in full |
| 15–30 days before start date | 30% of total course fee retained |
| 7–15 days before start date | 40% of total course fee retained |
| Less than 7 days before start date | 50% of total course fee retained |
| After course has commenced | No refund (including late arrival, early departure, or days missed) |
Rescheduled programmes: If your programme has been rescheduled, the shorter applicable cancellation policy applies. Example: booked 6 months in advance, postponed 7 days before the original start, then cancelled 3 weeks before the new start — the 7-day policy applies.
3. Cancellation — Travelling Programmes
| Cancellation notice | Charge / refund |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days before start date | Deposit only (€200) retained — balance refunded in full |
| 15–30 days before start date | 50% of total programme fee retained |
| 7–15 days before start date | 75% of total programme fee retained |

Accommodation costs are non-refundable once arrangements have been committed by the School. Accommodation cancellations after arrival are non-refundable in all circumstances.
4. Cancellation — Group Programmes
Cancellation terms for short-term and closed group programmes (including junior groups and Erasmus+ cohorts) are set out in the individual group agreement. In the absence of a specific agreement, the Dublin General English cancellation schedule applies.
5. Cancellation Due to Visa Refusal
If you are refused a visa or entry permission by the relevant immigration authority:
- The full course fee paid is refunded, less a processing fee of €200.
- Refunds are processed within 20 working days of receipt of the official refusal letter.
- Submit your request to rf@tl.ie (Rosanna Fiorenza) with a copy of the official refusal documentation.
- Where a visa renewal letter has already been issued by the School, cancellation requests cannot be accepted.
The School does not provide immigration advice. We recommend seeking independent immigration guidance before enrolment.
6. Amendments by the Student
| Amendment notice | Fee |
|---|---|
| 15 days or more before start date | €150 amendment fee per booking |
| Within 15 days of start date | 50% of the total booking cost |
Amendment requests must be submitted in writing to drs@tl.ie before the applicable deadline.
7. Cancellation or Amendment by the School
Insufficient enrolment: The School reserves the right to cancel a programme where there is insufficient demand. All fees paid will be refunded in full within 20 working days.
Force majeure: In the event of circumstances beyond the School’s reasonable control (natural disaster, fire, flood, government restriction, loss of premises, or similar), all fees paid will be refunded in full. Where possible, the School will offer an alternative delivery arrangement before cancelling.
Amendments by the School: Where the School needs to amend a confirmed booking, it will notify you in writing. If you are not satisfied with the alternative offered, all fees will be refunded in full.
8. How to Request a Refund
- Email: rf@tl.ie (addressed to Rosanna Fiorenza)
- Include: your name, enrolment reference, programme dates, reason for cancellation, and any required supporting documentation
- Processing time: within 20 working days of receipt of all required documentation
- Refund method: by the same method as the original payment where possible
9. Learner Protection
Learner protection for long-term programme students is provided through Arachas, in accordance with Section 65 of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 as amended. Students enrolled on long-term programmes will receive written confirmation of this arrangement at the time of enrolment.
Following the introduction of IEM (TrustEd Ireland) accreditation, a new Provider Excess Liability (PEL) system administered by QQI will replace the current arrangements. This policy will be updated accordingly.
