STEAM and Travel
Our “STEAM & Travel” travelling programme allow students to gain a foundational understanding of biology, physics, and earth sciences, fostering critical thinking and scientific literacy. They also have the opportunity to travel and visit Ireland
Course Description
Science sparks curiosity about the natural world, encouraging exploration and innovation.
Our “STEAM & Travel” travelling programme allow students to gain a foundational understanding of biology, physics, and earth sciences, fostering critical thinking and scientific literacy.
During the first week in Dublin these are some of the topics that will be explored:
-
-
- Engineering Basics: Materials, load, structure, and describing objects
- Green Energy: Solar, wind, energy transfer, cause & effect
- The Science of Water: Filteration, states of matter
- Simple Machines: Levers,pulleys, motion
- Design & Architecture: Geometry measurement
-
What You’ll Learn?
- Students will become young engineers by designing and building their own strong and creative structures, and confidently describe why one design is stronger or taller than another
- Students will explore the power of the sun and wind by creating mini energy models, explaining how energy moves, and using clear sequencing words to show each step
- Students will become water scientists by building a working filter, discovering how to clean water, and explaining their process in simple, step-by-step language.
- Students will be able to construct a simple catapult and explain how it works by predicting the motion of objects.
- Students will be able to model a sustainable classroom or shelter and present their design choices clearly to others.
- All our summer camps culminate with our Southern & Western Ireland programme to combine the possibility of exploring the country, with activities catered to individual interests. The last 7 days are the perfect combination of travel, lessons, and sightseeing. The students will stay in Waterford, Cork, and Ennis/Limerick/Galway, visiting the most interesting places along the route and in each town, after having enjoyed their stay in Dublin.
